Shapeways Oh No! Your File Size Is Too Big for Us to Process. Please Try Again With Another File.

  1. AgeOfPlastic
Hi. Uploading new STL files has failed all weekend. I've contacted back up and am awaiting an answer. Is this affecting anyone else?

Specific symptom: select a file to upload. After a random percentage of file uploaded, y'all become this:

"Oops. Looks like something went wrong on our end. We're on it!"

  2. Beloved AgeOfPlastic,

No need to say more (eg full size of the STL file in Mbs, full number of polygons etc) - nosotros can guess! After all, we all have a crystal brawl and can read minds.

Thank you for your helpful response. Peradventure you could exist troubled to answer my question - is anyone else experiencing upload failures?

If other people are having no problems that would requite me some direction to investigate.

For what information technology'south worth, I tried a variety of STL files of varying sizes and all failed over the weekend. This morning time a 420K file with 8394 triangles succeeded, but anything in the multimegabyte size fails.

  4. Dear AgeOfPlastic, If y'all feel offended, do not blame me. Next time maybe you could be troubled to enquire clear, accurate and comprehensible question(due south). Ordinarily, vague questions atomic number 82 to wrong answers. Plus, we do non accept a crystal brawl to read minds. If you notice, forum is full of 'complaints' applied by users who did not bother to study basic FAQ of Shapeways first.

    Just my less-than-two-cents-worth opinion.
  5. AgeOfPlastic
I'm not offended. I'm puzzled equally to why you're taking the time to post responses that don't address what I'k request, is all. I retrieve my question is pretty clear and accurate and comprehensible.
  6. Love AgeOfPlastic, I am besides puzzled every bit to why you took the time to write all these messages and upwards to this moment you still did Not mention the total size in Mbs and total number of polygons of the specific STL file you are trying (unsuccessfully) to upload. I approximate information technology's a secret, huh?
  7. AgeOfPlastic
Because I tried around a dozen STLs here of varying sizes and polygon counts. All fail to upload.

In my years of doing tech support and troubleshooting it'southward a pretty bones matter to start with - are other people having bug with a thing? Yes or no. That'southward an essential starting indicate. Before embarking on minutiae, or sarcastically telling off other people, neither of which are useful.

In terms of failed uploads, these STLs did not upload:

    4,033,884 bytes eighty,500 faces
    7,695,284 bytes 153,634 faces
    796,984 bytes fifteen,938 faces

The files are generated with Fusion 360 and Tinkercad. All are variants of files that have successfully uploaded in the by. For good measure I've tried complimentary files released by hobbyists and they take as well failed. I uploaded the files from three separate computers running 2 versions of macOS. I also tried two separate Shapeways accounts.

All fail with the mistake message "Oh no! Something went wrong and we couldn't process your file. Please effort over again in a few minutes!".

And so. Anyone else out in that location having difficulties uploading STLs as of this weekend? Thanks!

The biggest one I loaded today is but over 9 MB. So it sounds like something is indeed happening. Have you tried zipping the file and so uploading it? Sometimes that makes a departure -- not sure why, merely it does. :) Yous shouldn't have to practice it, but if what you are doing is time-sensitive, it might exist a piece of work-around. My other suggestion is to achieve out to the folks in customer service. They accept always been virtually helpful when I've had problems.

    Jean

  11. AgeOfPlastic
Thanks for the suggestion, Jean! I tried zipping an 8.1MB file and uploading that, and it besides failed uploading the same style.

Very odd. I'thousand waiting on a response from customer service. Hopefully they'll have some insight every bit to what's going on here.

I'1000 seeing STL upload problems since yesterday.

1.6MB file and so nothing large and same as all my other models.

It uploads and will generate initial renders. Just never finishes processing so deceit ready the print orientation or generate different positioned renders.

Tried different browsers incase information technology'south a display problem without resolve.

  13. It would also help if yous tin can specify your location.
Shapeways uses a content distribution system called Cloudflare.
I've seen information technology before where one section of Cloudflare is having errors, whereas others are not.

Thanks - that's an interesting point! I hadn't thought of that. :) I'm in London, UK.
  15. AgeOfPlastic
Well well well. Your suggestion appears to have hit upon the root of the cause! :)

Though I tried using different computers and Os versions and browsers, I only always used the same Internet access provider, via both wired Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections. So I switched my laptop to my 4G phone connection - and the uploads succeeded! That never occurred to me as a problem, since absolutely everything else is working fine. I work from home and use the Internet heavily.

And the uploads attempts don't neglect at the same point every time - they fail at random points in the upload attempt - so I didn't doubtable connectivity weirdness.

Thanks for your assist, stonysmith, adbinc and magcad - much appreciated!
